San Francisco's historic ferry building is home of the Farmer's Market and some permanent market shops, cafes, and restaurants. Its 240-foot clock tower, modeled after the 12th century bell tower in Seville, has been the San Francisco waterfront icon for more than 100 years. Developers spent nearly $90 million to renovate the building, which withstood both major earthquakes, and turn it into what they hope will become a thriving food center.
