Description of Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park Photo
I photographed the image below of Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park in August of 2021. My family and I drove the Going-to-the-Sun Road from St. Mary, Montana to West Glacier, Montana. Glacier National Park was the last stop for us on a two-week road trip.
With it being summertime, there was not much snow in the mountains in the background of this photo, but it was still a beautiful site to see. Lake McDonald is one of the last sites to see at the end of the Going-to-the-Sun Road before you get to West Glacier. This lake is 10 miles long and nearly 500 feet deep. Although I didn’t see any wildlife while at the lake, it is said that many flourishes in the valley of Lake McDonald. Common wildlife animals include bighorn sheep, mountain goats, elk, black bears, and deer.

I started out using 35mm point and shoot cameras, then upgraded to a 35mm DSL camera when I was in college. Finally, the world of digital DSL cameras was introduced. Gone are the days of having to wait for your film to be developed to see what you captured. From that point on, photography has been so much fun!
As a photographer, I draw inspiration from both the natural world and human experience. I strive to capture moments of raw beauty and to use photos as a testament to the power of storytelling through imagery. I am a firm believer that memories last a lifetime and are more precious than any physical thing you could own. Through my lens, I like to provoke connections between the viewer and any memories my photographs can bring back to life.
