Mt Rainier is looking huge behind the historic Paradise Inn in this photo. The mountain is hovering over the inn displaying the top portion of the gigantic looking mountain. This inn is designated as one of the “Great Lodges of the West.” What’s great about this inn is that it is located right at the base of Mt Rainier and has miles of hiking trails right outside the door. The Paradise Inn opened for business in 1917, that makes it over 100 years old!

Where is Paradise?
Paradise is located in Mount Rainier National Park on the south side. To get there, just follow the main park road on highway 706. It is about 11 miles past Longmire.
Mt Rainier Paradise Attractions
Besides the obvious attraction of Mt Rainier, Paradise also offers tons of hiking trails, wildflower meadows, the historic Paradise Inn, and glorious views. Some of the best hiking trails are:
- Nisqually Vista Trail
- Skyline Trail to Myrtle Falls
- Deadhorse Creak Trail
- Alta Vista Trail
I started out using 35mm point and shoot cameras, then upgraded to a 35mm DSL camera when I was in college. Finally, the world of digital DSL cameras was introduced. Gone are the days of having to wait for your film to be developed to see what you captured. From that point on, photography has been so much fun!
As a photographer, I draw inspiration from both the natural world and human experience. I strive to capture moments of raw beauty and to use photos as a testament to the power of storytelling through imagery. I am a firm believer that memories last a lifetime and are more precious than any physical thing you could own. Through my lens, I like to provoke connections between the viewer and any memories my photographs can bring back to life.
