A scenic picture of a building with "The Seal of the State of Washington" symbol on the outsite wall located across the street from the capitol building. The Story Pole which is 71 ft. high is also seen in the foreground of this photo. Often confused with a totem pole, which is roughly analogous to a family crest, a story pole is used to teach children through parables. One example of the way the local tribes are honored is through the inclusion of a story pole on the grounds of the Washington State Capitol seen in this photo.
