Description for Water Splash Photography
I took this rock splashing in water photo below as my husband was skipping a rock in a lake. Water splash photography is fun when it is done right. It can also be difficult to catch the splash at just the right time. While using my telephoto lens, I shot this water splash picture at 283 mm. I like the detail you can see of the water drops flying up as the rock splashes down. The rock is not visible in the photo as it has already skipped out of the frame, but the spot where the rock skipped on top of the water is shown in this photo.

Camera Settings for Water Splash Photography
This water splash photography photo was photographed with these camera settings and no flash:
- Camera Body: Canon EOS 6D Mark II
- Shutter Speed: 1/600 seconds
- Lens Aperture: f/9
- Focal Length: 283 mm
- ISO: 2000
- Image Quality: RAW
How to Capture a Splash Photo
To capture a water splash photo, you must use a fast shutter speed. The splash needs to be captured in motion and if the shutter speed is slow, the motion will be blurry. You want the image to be sharp and clear with water droplets flying up and no blurry motion in the picture. I used a shutter speed of 1/600 seconds for this rock splashing in the water photo and it worked out well.
Another must do trick to catch water splashes without any blur is to use a tripod. The tripod will help stabilize your hand motion and reduce any movement of the camera itself.
Finally, you should focus your camera on the spot you expect the water splash to happen and keep it focused there. If the focus is already set, it will be easier to capture the shot as it happens.

I started out using 35mm point and shoot cameras, then upgraded to a 35mm DSL camera when I was in college. Finally, the world of digital DSL cameras was introduced. Gone are the days of having to wait for your film to be developed to see what you captured. From that point on, photography has been so much fun!
As a photographer, I draw inspiration from both the natural world and human experience. I strive to capture moments of raw beauty and to use photos as a testament to the power of storytelling through imagery. I am a firm believer that memories last a lifetime and are more precious than any physical thing you could own. Through my lens, I like to provoke connections between the viewer and any memories my photographs can bring back to life.
